Sainsbury's will open their new store and petrol station to the public at 9am on Wednesday August 3rd at 9am. The new store which is just off the Exeter Road in Dawlish is slightly smaller than its Newton Abbot store and will employ 220 people.

A member of the public spotted a carrier bag moving on the beach at Dawlish Warren. When they untied the bag they found a three-month-old kitten inside. The kitten is now been cared for at the RSPCA Little Valley Animal Shelter Exeter, and is healthy but was traumatised by its experience.

Dawlish beach has re-opened after it passes its latest water testing. The test results received on Saturday has given the beach the all clear. The source of the pollution remains a mystery.

Swimmers are warned yet again not to swim in the sea at Dawlish. Earlier in the month failed water test closed Dawlish beach to swimmers due to failed water testing, believed to have been caused by heavy rain. Dawlish beach remains closed today as it failed a routine test which is carried out frequently during the summer season. Further samples of the water have been taken and the results should be known by Friday. It is thought that the heavy rainfall on Sunday is to blame.

A bewildered deer became separated from its herd and deceided to do a bit of shopping in Stokes fruit and veg shop in The Strand Dawlish. It was a shock for customers who first thought it was a dog, but quickly realized it was a bit too big and boisterous. The RSPCA were called and the deer was taken away to be released back into the wild.
