I don't think that the cost of parking in Dawlish helps. I realise that you can park in the Co-op for free, but anyone wanting to wander around the town looking at shops or having a coffee has to pay high parking charges. Perhaps the cost of car parks in Dawlish has not helped. I think that the local Council Tax payers are already being penalised enough by having to pay to shop locally. We travel to France regularly every year, and it is very rare to find a town in France where one has to pay for parking. Consequently people spend time in these small flourishing towns.
