As The Spectator article above suggests, the Lib Dems have been preparing for the long game - and the short. I can advise the candidate for the Newton Abbot constituency will be nominated on or before the 11th May.
The nomination(s) and election of the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor is scheduled to take place at the Dawlish Town Council meeting on May 3rd. The various committees and representations on external bodies will also be formally proposed (and hopefully agreed) at the same meeting. Interestingly, I met up with Kathy Newbound (who as Lib Dem candidate for Maidenhead gave TM a close race in a previous general election) at the demonstration at Westminster last month. Perhaps she'll be emboldened to run against her again?
