General Discussion

Thank you, Michael for the information regarding how our planning committee voted on Thursday. Many who follow this discussion will of course understand the sad irony in the support being given by DTC to this appeal " provided that it can be shown that it is necessary for the future viability of the farm business". Many would agree that it is reasonable that the conversion of a barn into ...

Election 2015

I take it Mrs C that there would be no point in the Lib Dems knocking on your door in the next five weeks? You can advocate spend, spend, spend if you want to - one day the national debt run up by Gordon Brown will have to be paid off. Happy to pass that burden on to future generations?

Winding back the reckless overspend that Labour left us with was never going to be easy. No, I don't think the electorate will forget the difficult decisions taken by the Lib Dems in coalition - but most do understand that without the moderating influence of the party on the Tories, the cuts would have been far worse.

Good coverage from Dawlish of the fight for a Westminster seat between local contestants, Anne Marie Morris and Richard Younger-Ross, on last night's BBC Spotlight. Only 1 percentage point between them at the last election (43%/42%) one of the closest in the South West. Thank you for this clarification Bob - but for someone with work and other commitments it is often impractical to drop in to The Manor House to collect paperwork. My experience has been that only bare agendas are to be found in the rack - and in any case I understand the clerk's office hours extend only to 1.30pm. As you will be aware, the question as to why supporting documents are not placed ...

As it is on the agenda (Item 12) any member of the public wishing to attend and speak on the matter would be allowed to do so at the beginning of the meeting, or at another time at the discretion of the PC Chairman. BTW, for those contemplating doing so it would be sensible to take your own support material as the Town Council are well known for not providing anything other than a printed agenda ...

Thanks for the steer, Lynne. Anyone who wants to know what is really happening at Warren Farm would do well to take a look at the two documents you have highlighted above. As you say, thought provoking...

Lynne, I have also been told that the extended Carhaix Way will not be open to through traffic once the building work is complete. I'm not sure what type of restriction is planned - smart bollards perhaps (to allow the passage of emergency or service vehicles) or maybe just signage indicating "access only". Route 1 - the new link road. The only safe and sensible option for all ...
