The Fezz-tival is an exciting new family event at Dawlish Warren, all about clowning and slapstick - featuring free performances and workshops from 11AM – 6PM on the first weekend in July.
Why a “Fezz-tival”? Well, years ago, a young man called Tommy Cooper sold ice creams along the Warren and we are celebrating his unique place as one of Britain’s best-loved clowns.
“Everyone who comes along will laugh their pants off at the daft performances we have on the programme!” says organiser Tony Lidington of Dawlish “…and have the opportunity to try their hand at slapstick skills on the Warren green. There will be free workshops run by the performers during the day on circus skills, comic routines and puppetry.”
Andrew Bulpin, Secretary of Dawlish Warren Tourism added “This is an exciting new initiative which will appeal to all ages. We hope it will quickly become a feature of our new-look summer season”.
There is a hog roast on Sunday and a beer festival at The Boathouse which will take place on the same days. Live music is on the programme for Saturday evening so once the family fun has ended by 6PM, the best local bands and singers will entertain as you sample a range of locally brewed real ales.
What better way could there be to spend a summer weekend – in the words of the great man; “just like that….”
