Teignbridge District Council has come under scrutiny following a privacy breach in which an email was sent to 148 recipients with their addresses visible in the CC field, rather than using the blind carbon copy (BCC) function. This oversight exposed the email addresses of all recipients to one another, raising concerns over data protection compliance. The incident highlights the importance of robust email protocols in safeguarding privacy, especially within public sector organizations entrusted with sensitive information.
The email was sent to people on the self-build register. The council has yet to comment on the matter or outline measures to prevent future breaches.
