Hi just letting residents living in Dawlish, Dawlish Warren and Holcombe that Global Action Plan is now looking for volunteers to join the 'Small Change' project in January.
The Small Change project is all about looking at ways in which we can benifit the environment and save money at the same time.
So far the project has been a great success - 10 groups of local residents have already taken part - and shared ideas, and discussed lots of ways in which we can make small changes at home to reduce the amount of energy, water we use and the amount of waste we send to landfill, for example changing light bulbs for energy saving ones.
As part of the project volunteers are entitled to a free home energy advice visit as well as free products including a free water butt, compost bin, and low energy light bulbs.
The project is free to join and there are childcare facilities available for daytime sessions on request.
Previous groups have had lots of fun and picked up lots of good tips in respect of making their lifestyle a bit greener. Refreshments are provided and everyone enjoys meeting up on a regular basis - very good ways to meet new people and form new friendhips!!
All we ask is that people attend 4 sessions - one is an introduction to the project so learning more about what is involved in taking part, and there are three topic sessions, including waste and shopping, energy and water, and healthy living (local food providers, healthy eating and growing your own foods). There is also a celebration event to celebrate people's achievements.
Duration of each meeting is 1-2 hours and normally are held at Dawlish Manor House, Old Town Street.
We have morning and evening sessions.
Please contact Zoe asap on 01626 215764 or email zoe.reed@globalactionplan.org.uk to find out more or to reserve a place in January!!
