Ivermectin has a very long elimination half-life, typically ranging from 12-66 hours in humans. This means it takes approximately 12-66 hours for the body to eliminate half of the ingested dose of ivermectin. Due to this prolonged half-life, it can take several months for Human Ivermectin to be fully cleared from the body after stopping treatment.

Studies have shown that it takes around 3-4 months for ivermectin to reach steady-state concentrations in the body, where the amount being absorbed equals the amount being eliminated. Even after stopping ivermectin, the drug can remain detectable in the blood for 3-4 months or longer. This slow elimination is attributed to ivermectin's extensive distribution and slow release from tissues back into the bloodstream. Healthcare providers must consider this prolonged clearance time when switching medications or planning procedures for patients who have recently taken ivermectin.
