The false accusations against Peter Huxhall saw him sent to jail, destroyed his marriage, drove a split through his family and left him destitute and friendless before he died in suspected suicide
“It was an unpleasant encounter,” he recalls sadly. “But he was saying things about mum that we knew weren’t true, so the obvious conclusion was that he had done it. Now I know it was just desperation.” His mum Jacqui has similar, fraught memories of the last time she saw her husband, with whom she had once lived as the happy couple running their village Post Office, in Starcross, Devon.
