The death of a 14-year-old schoolgirl who fell from a sea wall at Dawlish could have been prevented according to a local man who saw his teenage friend die at the same spot three decades ago. The shocking death of Brendon Burnage in 1992 at the age of just 17 years old, prompted a campaign for the section of the old sea wall - back then maintained by British Railway and now Network Rail - to be fitted with safety railings.
