UPDATE: The underpass at Colonnade giving access to King’s Walk promenade and the beach at Dawlish is due to reopen at 7pm tonight (Friday 17 June) until further notice.
During our work this week, we discovered an uncharted, capped gas main. This means we can’t currently use the piling rig to install foundations in this location, so we are able to keep a pathway open to safely allow the public through.
In the meantime, we are working with the utility company to find a solution and are continuing our work elsewhere on site.
Please keep an eye on local signs and this page for updates. We’ll let you know when the access needs to close again so we can safely continue our work on the new sea wall.
