Firefighters had to rescue two Devon walkers who got themselves waist-deep in a sticky situation. A 999 call was made at around 12.50pm today to reports of two people stuck in the mud on a public footpath on farmland in Mamhead, near Dawlish.

At the time of the call, they were stuck in the mud up to their knees, but when firefighters arrived they had sunk deeper
