Police officers are investigating reports that a male was set upon by a group of people in Bank Street, Teignmouth at around 4pm.
It is alleged the victim, aged in his 30s, was initially hit with a car and then assaulted by the occupants of the vehicle. He sustained a head injury and superficial cuts.
Officers, including armed units, later attended addresses in Teignmouth and Dawlish. A 58-year-old man and a 20-year-old man, both from Teignmouth, and a 39-year-old man from Dawlish have been arrested on suspicion of attempted GBH.
All remain in police custody at this time. Police are asking anyone with information to contact them via 101@dc.police.uk or by telephone on 101, quoting crime reference CR/005203/21
