Eight of Dawlish's black swans have died of bird flu.

Dawlish Town Council, which looks after the world-renowned swans, has asked people to stay away from the birds while they are being monitored and looked after by its wardens. Andrew McKenzie, Dawlish town clerk, said: “We are really sad about the deaths of our very special black swans, and at the news that tests have now confirmed the cause is avian flu.
