A fake owl has suddenly appeared on the top of a telegraph pole near the junction of Lower Drive and Henty Avenue.

A fake owl has suddenly appeared on the top of a telegraph pole near the junction of Lower Drive and Henty Avenue.

Enlighten me. (I've read that they are used to scare off other birds but if that is the case why that particular telegraph pole and no others. It just seems such a random thing to do).
There are barn owl's, tawny owl's, long-eared owl's and I suspect this one is pole owl who only likes to sit a particular pole.
Oh to have had a camera with me.
I've just passed said telegraph pole and there for all to see was a herring gull perched on top of the owl's head.
