Fire crews from Dawlish, Teignmouth and Torquay were mobilised to reports of a fire involving a BT telephone pole in the above location.
On arrival, crews confirmed a fire caused by a lightning strike that had set fire to a telephone box. The lightning strike caused a domestic fuse board to trip and had internally burnt out two telephone line sockets. Crews used a thermal imaging camera to check the rest of the property for fire spread, and ventilated the property before leaving the scene.
Crews also requested the attendance of Western Power to check the state of the electrics in the local area.
