Historical waterfront cafe destroyed in late-night fire

An historical waterfront cafe and community hub has been destroyed in a late-night fire, witnessed by big crowds who had gathered for the annual carnival.

Three appliances from Teignmouth, Dawlish and Torquay, and an Operational Assurance Officer, were sent to the Beachcomber café in Teignmouth after several calls reporting a fire.

I was in Teignmouth last night and stood right by the cafe - destroyed is a bit of an exaggeration. Was told the kitchen is badly damaged and the rest was full of smoke but they're aiming to be up and running again soon.
