Peter Dodd, aged 42, who was living rough in Exeter at the time, admitted wounding at an earlier hearing at Exeter Crown Court.
His sentence was adjourned by Judge Geoffrey Mercer, QC, after he was told that Dodd now has an address at Coronation Avenue, Dawlish, and has started work with the addiction service Rise.
