A boat owner has said plans to ban small boats from areas of the Exe Estuary are an 'ill-considered sledge hammer to crack a nut'.
The proposals would extend the existing Exmouth Voluntary Exclusion Zone to all users during low tide when the Brent Geese are feeding on the eelgrass (Sept-Dec) to include Kitesurfers / Windsurfers, Kayakers, Canoers, Dogwalkers and Bait diggers / Crab tillers, while a new Voluntary Exclusion Zone proposed, within the existing boundary of the National Nature Reserve, would be proposed for Dawlish Warren.
