*update 09:00am 04/08/2015*
South West Water is aware that some customers are experiencing discoloured water in your area. If your water is discoloured, please run your cold kitchen tap until clear. This could take up to 2 hours.
We have despatched inspectors to the area to carry out flushing of the mains.
We will provide further updates as soon as possible. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.
Seriously?! Run your cold tap for 2 hours - will they refund those of us on water meters for the water used?
Duckileaks,
Apply for a rebate, as I did a few years ago when this happened like you I had a meter and they discounted the bill
Final message just received to confirm all sorted.
@Duckileaks i know it says up to 2 hours but we ran ours for less than 10 mins and it cleared
On average a tap uses 8-12 litres per minute so at full blast for two hours the usage would be 1.44 cubic metres, a cost of £3.42 (or if your water went clear after 10 minutes, that's 29p).
The foaming-at-the-mouth phone call to the SWW call centre demanding a rebate would probably cost more than the rebate's worth then! Thanks Mcjrpc (and welcome back).
