Two hives containing thousands of bees stolen from an orchard near Dawlish between June 9 and 10.
Beekeeper Brian Hunt, who took up the hobby last year, said that when he discovered the hives were missing, he saw a few confused bees who had returned loaded with pollen, only to find their homes had gone.
