A HOMELESS man who was in a desperate state stole meat from the Co-op to feed himself as he had not eaten days, a court has been told.
Steven Heap, 48, was caught on CCTV taking meat from Co-op stores in Teignmouth and Dawlish in January this year.
Heap, who now lives in Richards Close, Dawlish, pleaded guilty to two counts of theft from a shop when he appeared at Torquay Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
Mitigating, Simon Coleman said: "He was in a desperate state and was homeless. He need to feed himself."
