A mother and her young child have been rescued from a house fire in Dawlish.
Devon and Somerset fire and rescue service were called to the blaze at 10am following a call from the distressed mother. She reported a fire in her kitchen and said her and her young child were unable to evacuate.
Fire control remained on the phone with her and gave her fire survival advice, to get her and her child to a place of safety within the property.
The information gained from the caller was relayed to the crews whilst en route so they knew exactly where they were within the property.
Shortly after arriving crews located both the mother and her child and escorted them safely out of the property, where paramedics were waiting to check them over.
The fire in Carlton Terrace, Dawlish started accidentally and involved a cooker in the ground floor kitchen, said the fire servie.
The blaze was extinguished and damage was confined to the cooker and kitchen only.
