I came past the Red Rock Cafe a couple of days ago after it was closed and there was lots of rubbish scattered over the ground between the cafe and the beach on the Dawlish side of the Red Rock, (or Langstone Rock if you want the correct name).
I had a word with the owners today and was told that the council had removed the rubbish bins, (probably to save paying for people to empty them) and that the staff at the cafe were told that they could not pick up the rubbish. Apparently this stretch belongs to the railway and it would fall to them to install rubbish bins. What a good advert for our visitors and paying guests.
Meanwhile rubbish will continue to accumulate. Where is the sense in all this? Does anyone know?
'the staff at the cafe were told they could not pick up the rubbish'?
Is there a law against picking up litter?
