DCC's scheme - piloted in Ilfracombe, Ivybridge and Tiverton - has proved so successful it is now being expanded to a further eight towns, including Dawlish and Teignmouth. The sessions offer those seeking work or claiming benefits up to two hours' free computer and internet access each Friday.

The scheme was developed in response to the Government's "Digital by Default" strategy, to help those who are unable to use IT or who do not have internet access at home.

Support

Specially trained staff will provide support for the public on a range of relevant subjects, including using government websites to find information; online form filling; setting up an email account; how to use websites for job seeking; and how to put together a CV.

They will also signpost people to relevant local agencies who can offer further advice, support or training opportunities. There are also plenty of useful books and online resources available in the library
