Day trippers arriving by coach to Dawlish are dropped off in Piermont Place and the coaches then have to drive out of town to Sandy Lane.
Barton car park has been suggested as a more suitable alternative for drivers to park while waiting to pick up visitors.
It is hoped it can become a reality in time for the main tourist season when regeneration work in The Strand is completed.
The idea will be put to Teignbridge Council which operates the car park.

The left turn at the top of Brunswick is going to be a bit tight for the bigger coaches. Also getting out easily will depend on the road width of the new Strand once finished. A better option would be to do a deal with Network Rail on using their car park at the station once the railway repair work has finished.
