Fire appliances from Dawlish, Teignmouth and Torquay were mobilised to a report of a roof on fire in East Cliff Close in Dawlish.

Upon arrival the incident commander requested a further two fire appliances as the roof well alight. Two appliances were subsequently mobilised from Teignmouth and Torquay together with an Incident Command Unit from Totnes and an aerial ladder platform from Torquay.

Yes I could see the fire fighters and the smoke coming from that direction when I was up walking the dog on Sandy Lane Playing Fields about 10.00 this morning.

Someone also walking his dog could tell me at that time that the incident was in EastCliff Close and that he understood it had been caused by builders/roofers equipment catching the roof alight and that the wind was aiding and abetting the fire.

Said he'd been told all that by his postman. Seems the postman was right.

Lots of billowing smoke.

Hope no-one too badly injured. People who live there must be devastated though. 

Came back from walking the dog, looked at my house and thought how devasted I would be if it had happened to me.
