SKATERS in Dawlish are celebrating after their long-awaited skate park was officially opened. Teenagers with a talent for boarding descended on the new facility when the ribbon was cut by town mayor Wally Protheroe. Dawlish Action for Youth, the charity behind the project, has said the opening was a huge milestone in what has been a long journey. The campaign for a skate park in Dawlish has been running for 10 years. Police community support officer Gary Cairns has also been working to secure a safe area for young people to go.
