Devon Partnership NHS Trust has received planning consent to proceed with the £30m redevelopment of Langdon Hospital in Dawlish.
The plans for the site include extension of the existing buildings and the replacement of the Butler Clinic with a new 60-bed unit, which will be divided into four ward areas.
It is hoped construction will start in the autumn with completion of the development anticipated in spring 2013.
