The daughter of a Dawlish woman, who died after suffering a massive heart attack, is hiking 12 miles with her husband for charity.Tammy Konestsky, 24, her husband Terry, 41, from Dawlish, and their friend Wayne, 41, are taking part in the Great West Ramble to raise money and awareness for the British Heart Foundation.
Tammy's mum, Bridget Bennett, 54, collapsed when she was out shopping in Teignmouth in June.
Tammy, an administrative assistant, said: "It was completely out of the blue. I got a phone call at work from one of the nurses to say my mum was critically ill and could I come to Torbay Hospital.
"She had already died, but they couldn't tell me that over the phone. She suffered from a massive heart attack."
Tammy says it is important for her to raise awareness of the work the British Heart Foundation do in combating and educating people about heart disease.
"We had a collection at mum's funeral and raised over £100 and so far we have raised over £200 for the walk, but we still have money coming in," she said.
The trio will be setting off tomorrow at 9am from Streatham Court on the University of Exeter campus.
