HITCHING up her skirt and wearing sunglasses, a beach girl went paddling in what could have been a scene from the height of summer yesterday.
But her barefoot dip at Dawlish, Devon, comes in the depths of winter - as weather experts reveal last month was the warmest January for 91 years.
Despite recent snow flurries and howling gales, they say we got off lightly with a "ridiculously" high average temperature of 5.9C - at least 2.5C above the norm.
