Tory Anthony Steen (Totnes) called for armoured trains for a rail line hindered by "high water and falling cliffs". He raised conditions on the scenic route between Dawlish Warren and Teignmouth, south Devon where the track runs along the edge of the sea and through a series of short tunnels in the cliffs. Mr Steen called for government cash to bypass the area or provide the special trains. But transport minister Tom Harris said there were no plans for armoured trains "at the moment".
