THE completion of the eastern side of the Exe estuary cycle way moved a step closer this week after Devon County Council formally approved the plans for the £2.2 million Exmouth to Lympstone stretch of the route. But the council refused to back the proposed £2 million section between Lympstone to Exton amid concerns from residents. This part has been referred back to the council's planners and is unlikely to be finished until 2008 at the earliest. The 18-mile cycle route will run from Exmouth to Bridge Road, in Exeter. The path will travel south along the west side of the estuary to Dawlish, via Starcross and Cockwood. Once completed, the route is expected to provide a massive boost to Devon's economy.
