The future of the Penzance-London railway line at its Dawlish weak point must be secured say Torbay Tories. They say the Government must act now to secure the future of the line at the resort to prevent it being washed away, "leading to big problems for the people, economy and transport network of the South West". Bay's Conservative group leader and deputy mayor Cllr Kevin Carroll, has joined forces with Plymouth Tories to write to the secretary of state for transport, Alistair Darling, asking him to urgently review the state of the line at Dawlish. Both groups say they have concerns regarding the future of the line, which has been hit by storms over the last few years. They say a recent TV report highlighted the potential dangers facing the line, including the risk that it could be washed away.
