An ambitious regeneration scheme for Dawlish is being backed by the district council. A local group has come up with a scheme to upgrade the resort and the surrounding areas, and the Teignbridge executive committee agreed to support the project in principle. Cllr John Clatworthy, a Dawlish county and district member, admitted they were behind Teignmouth over regeneration, but hoped to catch up. The group had a lot of enthusiasm, and the next stage would be to prioritise the various ideas. Council leader Cllr Alan Connett said they would go along with the request for funding of £2,500 a year over the next three years towards both the Dawlish and Teignmouth schemes, but he wanted to know exactly which budget the money comes from first.
