An aid flight headed for Pakistan, containing 800 special cold weather tents for Oxfam and 19,000 blankets for Islamic Relief, will take off from Nottingham East Midlands Airport at approximately 16:00 today (Tuesday 11 October). The tents will provide temporary shelter for thousands of people affected by the Asian Earthquake.
This aid is essential to the survival of the survivors of this disaster. The Islamic Relief UK Manager, Waseem Yaqub, is flying out to Pakistan tonight and will accompany the cargo to the affected regions. This is an excellent example of NGOs and the UK Government working in partnership for the benefit of the people affected by the earthquake.
