A struggling non-league football club in Devon has made an audacious request for a world famous Italian referee to preside over one of their matches. Dawlish Town FC have asked Pierluigi Collina to referee one of their games, and are offering to pay his expenses and put him up in a five star hotel. The struggling south Devon club were relegated last season. Club chairman Nigel Gooding said: "It's a serious bid, we've got sponsors to fund it. Players don't dispute his decisions and they have confidence in him. Nigel Gooding, Dawlish FC Chairman "If he came, we could have a carnival day." Collina , 44, is widely regarded as one of the best referees in the world. He took charge of England's 4-2 win against Croatia in the Euro 2004 Finals.
