Man denies murder.

A man today pleaded not guilty to attempting to murder his estranged police officer wife.

Ian Hurved, 53, of Dorset Avenue, Exeter, also denied a charge of wounding with intent at Exeter Crown Court.

Hurved is alleged to have tried to to kill Fay Hurved at her home in Dawlish, Devon, on December 21.

No application for bail was made, and Mrs Justice Hallett remanded him in custody until his next hearing.

Mother-of-two Mrs Hurved was taken to hospital with knife wounds to her neck and back following the alleged attack.

The defendant was taken to a separate hospital suffering from a knife wound to the chest.
