Exeter magistrates imposed a community punishment and rehabilitation order for 18 months and ordered him to carry out 50 hours unpaid work in the community. He was also ordered to pay £400 compensation to the victim.
Ed Canning, prosecuting, read a statement from a 17-year-old boy who said he had been skateboarding with friends in the street outside Worley's home when he was approached by the defendant one evening last July.
"He said: 'My kid is trying to sleep'. He punched me with a closed fist on the nose," the teenager said. "He then said he was sorry it was me, but it had to be someone."
The youngster suffered a broken nose and received treatment to have it straightened.
Caroline Salvatorie, in mitigation, said Worley had long standing problems with rowdy youths in the road outside the home he shared his partner and young child.
He had made numerous attempts to contact the parents of the youths but had no success in stopping the problem.
Ms Salvatorie added: "He had previously complained to the council and to the parents but had no joy."
