Occupants of Leeclif including Ann James, Edna Davison and Allan Seaton are finding the lakes of rainwater in Beach Road outer and inner car parks are causing them serious problems.

Residents have been complaining to the council for a long time, however, Cllr Ted Hokin recently stated that the car parks have been upgraded. Residents do not agree that enough has been done.

One resident said: 'There is no drainage to the site so all the rain water just sits there.'

'Teenagers frequent the area at night in cars and bikes treating it as a speedway track and generally making more of a mess. When the water eventually dries what is left is dry mud which ends up covering everything.'

The community centre St Mary's Hall sits at the end of one of the car parks, but who wanting to go there generally need a boat when its been raining. A member of the hall said: 'Flooding happens all the time and I'm disgusted that nothing has been done about it.'

Cllr Ted Hokin said that work will continue on improving the car parks when money is available.
