Local man Tom Ahearn rescues a girl from the sea near to Red Rock, while she was attempting to rescue her dog that had been swept in to the sea by a large wave.

Tom was walking back from the Warren behind Miss Arwen Bird and saw she was lying face down in the water. took off his trousers, top, shoes and jumped in. "I just knew I had to get her out as quickly as I could, I managed to get to her and dragged her in to the steps where I then called the coastguard on my phone." recalled Tom.


Both Arwen and Tom were airlifted to Torbay by helicopter.

The dog was fine as well. She managed to get out on her own.
