Dawlish and Teignmouth fire crews helped get a man out of a vehicle which was balancing in a precarious position.
The firefighters went to Cockwood, near Exeter, to help a man stuck in a Jeep balancing over a one-metre drop.
It happened at about 10.24am yesterday in Church Lane.
Teignmouth fire station's crew commander Matt Radford said: "He was coming down a lane from a field and the vehicle slipped off the lane and went into some trees, stopping the car from dropping to the road below."
The Dawlish crew went first and they secured the car. They asked for back-up from Teignmouth for an extra winch and manpower.
The man was not injured in the incident. Once the Jeep had been righted, he was able to drive off.
