Among them was the coastal line through Dawlish, which was breached during a severe storm in 2014, leading to an eight-week closure which meant much of Devon and all of Cornwall being cut off from the network.

Police said the victim was sexually assaulted over her clothing. The 14-year-old was assaulted "over her clothing" by a man near the Boat Cove area of Dawlish at about 20:30 BST on 2 August, Devon and Cornwall Police said.

DEDICATED volunteers have begun the long-awaited project to clear the main Dawlish waterway. The Brook has been the subject of criticism and complaints over its appearance and condition, particularly a large build-up of sediment which became known as the town’s newest ‘beach’.

A DAWLISH community centre has been given a grant to provide a secure safe for the charity’s premises. The Strand Centre has been awarded the Burg-Wächter’s Secure Communities Scheme which allows them to receive free security products.

ARMED Forces Day in Dawlish is going ahead despite ongoing work in the town centre by South West Water. The annual event takes place on Saturday June 28 and invites anyone connected the Armed Forces or associated organisations to join members of the Royal British Legion Dawlish branch to commemorate the day on the Lawn.

MORE than 3,500 visitors are expected to cruise to Dawlish for this year’s American Car Show. Now in its eighth year, the popular show will feature classic cars, live music, entertainment and family fun.

POLICE are keen to speak with a woman who had eggs thrown at her while she was holding a baby during an incident in Teignmouth. Teignmouth and Dawlish Neighbourhood Policing Team received reports of young people throwing eggs, which were stolen from Co-op on Bank Street, at people and cars on Monday, May 26.
