A VEHICLE was severely damaged after a fire in the Springfield Gardens area of Dawlish. Having received reports of the fire, one appliance from Teignmouth was mobilised to the incident, which occurred on Friday, May 10.
Teignbridge Leisure is looking for donations of unwanted buckets, spades, balls and beach toys to fill its seafront libraries in Teignmouth and at Dawlish Warren. The popular beach toy libraries, which launched for the summer season this week, allow people to borrow equipment for their trip to the beach and then return the toys at the end of the day.
A SURPRISE was in store for an abseiling railway worker when he discovered a tawny owl nesting in a hole on Dawlish cliffs amid the bustle of a major worksite. Her charities for the year are Dawlish Against Plastic, The Strand Community Centre and Talking Newspapers Dawlish and Teignmouth.
RETIRING Dawlish town crier Steve Cunliffe, who served for four decades, has been honoured by becoming the parish’s first Honorary Freeman. The town council granted the title to Mr Cunliffe, who is 94 years old, after 45 years service and outstanding contribution to the parish.

TWO Dawlish Coasters went to Wales to take on Newport Marathon on Sunday. In a field of 2102 runners, Jade King finished in 460th position in a time of 3:25:47, which was a 26-minute personal best.
