A man has been sentenced following a violent attack at a charity fundraiser that left a victim needing life-changing surgery. Daniel Smith, 32, from Second Avenue in Dawlish , appeared at Exeter Crown Court on Friday 20 December for sentencing having pleaded guilty to section 20 wounding.
ALMOST 100 people sat down to enjoy lunch together at the Strand Centre in Dawlish. Organised every year, the festive feast of traditional turkey is provided for people in the town who would otherwise be on their own for Christmas.
Dawlish College is ‘delighted’ to have retained its Ofsted ‘Good’ rating following an inspection at the end of November. Inspectors visited Dawlish College on November 26 and 27 and judged that the school had ‘taken effective action to maintain the standards identified in the previous inspection’.

A project costing nearly £40m to help protect a coastal railway line in Devon has been completed. The work between Dawlish and Holcombe began in July 2023 and saw Network Rail install protection measures to catch any loose material. A STUDENT from Dawlish has been recognised by the University of Worcester for her outstanding academic achievements. Maya Goldsworthy was awarded with the LLB Prize for Academic Achievement, recognising her outstanding work throughout the 2023/24 academic year.
£3,000 has been donated to local charities thanks to the ‘Cuddly Toy Gang’. Dawlish Community Transport, AIMs, St Nectan’s Church, the Strand Centre and Pete’s Dragons were the five charities.

A COUPLE who ran a taxi firm in Dawlish have been named by Teignbridge Council after having been stripped of their licences. Michael Miller and Grace Miller, who jointly operated the cab firm Grab A Cab, had their licences, one as the proprietor and of a Hackney Carriage driver, removed after a series of complaints.
