Voters in Newton Abbot have gone to the ballot box in the general election 2024.

DAWLISH Coaster Laraine Gibbins took part in the Sportiva Torbay Sprint triathlon last weekend and finished in a time of 1:34:39. The event included a 750m sea swim, followed by a 20k bike ride, then a 5k run.

A TWELVE-year-old boy has been taken to hospital following a road collision in Dawlish. The boy sustained serious injuries and was taken to Bristol Children’s Hospital after the incident, which took place on July 1.

DAWLISH Women’s Walking Football Club is going from strength to strength. Following on from their successful progression into league and tournament football, including a runners-up trophy at EuroCopa 2024 in Portugal earlier this year, the club are keen to invite more women to play the sport.

Residents of new housing developments on the edge of Dawlish will have a local café later this month. The Hope Café, based at the Hope Centre on Swift Road near Sainsbury’s, will serve quality, fresh, locally-sourced, healthy light bites and snacks and drinks.

TWO more amazing people have been celebrated as 2024 Community Champions by Dawlish Water Rotary Club. Joint Dawlish Carnival Presidents Jill and Geoff King received the award from club president Chris May,  who praised the incredible work both have done in Dawlish.

A cannabis grower from Dawlish who claimed he had a human right to free electricity has been found guilty of bypassing his meter. AN annual event celebrating the UK’s armed forces took place in a Teignbridge town last weekend. Dawlish Armed Forces Day, which took place on Saturday, was jointly organised by the Royal British Legion Dawlish branch and the town council.

DAWLISH Lawn Bowling Club hosted their second Charity Day on Sunday 23 June. These days are for new and improving bowlers and it is all about having fun and raising money for the chosen charity on the day, with 23 teams taking part.

DAWLISH United Football Club are delighted to announce that, on Friday June 21, a new 20-year agreement was signed with Teignbridge District Council for the lease of the main ground at Sandy Lane.
