DRIVERS in Dawlish have been dealing with yet more traffic chaos while gas work is underway. Wales and West Utilities is back working along the A379 Exeter Road to replace and upgrade gas pipes.

Teignmouth Fire Station later said it was unable to respond because of a shortage of available crew despite being situated just across the road.

A Teignmouth man has been reunited with a South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) crew member who helped save his life. Peter Grimsey, now 68, collapsed while training in a pool at Dawlish Leisure Centre on 16 April 2025.

THE weather gods looked kindly upon Marina Bowls Club this year for the opening of the green on Saturday, April 18. Club president Cherry Chapman welcomed Dawlish Community Transport who were opening the green this year and around 35 members of Marina to the official opening of the green for the 2026 season.

DAWLISH & District Indoor Bowls Club recently held its finals weekend, bringing together the culmination of weeks of competition across the club championships. The club would like to thank all members who entered, as without their support and participation throughout the rounds, the competitions would not be possible.

Two new storm storage tanks have now been installed at The Lawn and Sandy Lane which can hold up to 2.2 million litres of stormwater each.

AN UNATTENDED cooking pan sparked a fire alert at a block of flats in Dawlish. Firefighters were alerted by a call from a member of the public reporting the alarm sounding within their block flats but there were no obvious signs why it was sounding.

FIREFIGHTERS from Dawlish were alerted to a call from a member of the public reporting smoke coming from their boiler. The smoke had set off the property’s fire alarms. Crews from Dawlish and Teignmouth attended the scene where they found the occupant had already turned off the electric supply to the boiler before they arrived.

VIDEO footage of a dog walker appearing to kick one of the Dawlish Black Swans has sparked anger in the town. The town council has also revealed in a separate incident, there have been allegations of an individual attacking and disturbing different nests with a large stick.

PART of Dawlish sea wall damaged by recent storms is expected to reopen on Sunday. Engineers working on repairs say the stretchalong the old sea wall between Dawlish (Coastguards breakwater) and Rockstone footbridge is due to reopen from approximately 10am on Sunday, April 12.
