A woman has been rescued from a house in Dawlish after her kitchen caught fire when food was left unattended on the cooker. Crews gained entry to the two-storey property and and found the woman suffering from smoke inhalation. A volunteer with the Strand Community Centre, and the whole team behind the Open Daw Centre, have received Civic Awards from Dawlish Town Council. Unfortunately there has been a fire at Coryton Cove destroying the bins, flagpole and damaging the floor, public rescue equipment and signs. We don't know if it is arson but it is a good reminder not to put hot ashes in a plastic bin

When toilets were constructed in a new building at Orchard Manor School in Dawlish in 2016, they were incorrectly connected directly to a surface water drainage system, instead of the public sewerage network. This is to allow us to carry out some additional work on the ramp at Town Gateway and the drainage along the wall. The footbridge by Kennaway Tunnel will remain open during this time, providing access to Boat Cove and the beach from this end.
