A MAN was arrested on the Lawn in Dawlish last night following an altercation. Police were called to the town centre following reports of a disturbance at about 6.45pm. A police spokesman said a man and a woman who were known to each other had been involved in an argument.

MORE than 1,300 have used the minor injuries unit at Dawlish Hospital since it reopened in April. Figures just released by the Torbay and South Devon Healthcare Trust reveal the numbers of patients who have been treated at the unit for minor injuries and ailments.

ONE of the six cygnets born in Dawlish just over a week ago has died. Dawlish Waterfowl Wardens have announced the cygnet had been lost, possibly having been attacked by seagulls. Intense weather conditions and predators have also led to the loss of 13 ducklings which hatched recently.

MAYOR Lin Goodman-Bradbury was in attendance at the Dawlish Lawn Tennis Club to officially open the new courts. The junior section at the club ranges from those aged five or six all the way up to under-18s and so finals day was a hotly contested event.

HIGH winds and driving rain caused havoc to Teignbridge yesterday with train services suspended, trees blocking roads and yachts breaking moorings. Yesterday saw trains come to a halt at Dawlish station as services were suspended.

THREE Dawlish artists came together to display their work for the first time as part of the annual Devon Open Studios event. The artists, all members of Dawlish Art Group, are experienced at showing their artwork at the group’s annual exhibition but this new venture, held at the Hope Centre, was a chance to reach a wider audience.

Homebuyers will have the first chance to look around the two new show homes at Taylor Wimpey’s Brook Vale development in Dawlish during a special launch event next month. Brook Vale is a collection of 180 homes, including two-bedroom apartments and a range of three and four bedroom houses.

POLICE in Teignmouth talking the drug supply to the area have seized more than two kilograms of suspected cannabis. An investigation into the importation of cannabis led officers from Teignmouth and Dawlish Neighbourhood team to search an address in Higher Woodway Close.

A RURAL policing team are holding a free bike marking event at Haldon. Officers from Teignmouth and Dawlish will be on hand at Haldon Mountain Bike Centre from 12pm on Saturday, September 28.
