Due to a person having been hit by a train in the Starcross area journeys between Newton Abbot and Exeter St Davids are being disrupted. This is expected to continue until at least 10:00. The Environment Agency scheme aims to reduce the flood risk to nearly 3,000 homes in Dawlish Warren and Starcross, as well as in Lympstone and Exmouth, and would reduce the flood risk for the main rail line through Dawlish to ensure that scenes such as the devastation caused in the 2014 storms would not happen again. Dawlish's famous black swan brood has increased. Following on from last year's record-breaking three broods of black swan cygnets in the town, three more cygnets have hatched. The flock are synonymous with the town, with 14 swans currently in the brook. Lewis Stewart carried out three raids in Newton Abbot and Dawlish which left the victims shaking with fear.
